Who we are
This website is run by Cars of Idaho, LLC, doing business as C.A.R.S. of Idaho (Certified Asset Recovery Services of Idaho), based in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. You can reach us at (208) 964-3081 or carsofidaho@gmail.com.
What we collect through this website
- Contact form. When you send a message, we receive what you type: your name, phone number, email address, location, vehicle details and your message. It’s emailed to our office and kept in the website’s private message inbox so we can follow up.
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time) for security and troubleshooting.
- Spam and abuse protection. To stop automated spam and password-guessing, the site briefly stores a scrambled (hashed) version of your connection’s IP address. It can’t be turned back into the address and expires within an hour.
This site doesn’t use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or third-party chat widgets. Signed-in website editors get the cookies WordPress needs to log in; visitors don’t.
Information from towing, impound and recovery work
When we tow, store or recover a vehicle, we keep the records the job requires and the law expects: vehicle details, location, times, photos, the inventory of personal property, and the names and contact details of the people involved. For private-property and law-enforcement tows, Idaho law requires us to report the tow to the Idaho Transportation Department, which notifies the registered owner and any lienholder. For repossessions, we share recovery details with the lender who hired us.
Skip tracing is done only for clients with a legitimate business purpose, using lawful, permissible-purpose sources. Information gathered is shared only with the client who requested it.
How we use it
- To answer your message, schedule service and do the job you asked for
- To keep the records required for towing, storage, vehicle releases and recoveries
- To protect the website from spam and abuse
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t send marketing email.
Who we share it with
Only those who need it to do the job: the lender or property owner who hired us, government agencies when the law requires (for example, the Idaho Transportation Department or law enforcement), and the companies that host this website and deliver its email, which handle it on our behalf. We may also disclose information if a court order or other legal process requires it.
Links to other sites
Our pages link to sites like Facebook, the Better Business Bureau, Yelp, the FMCSA and the Idaho Legislature. Their privacy practices are their own.
How long we keep it
Website messages are kept as long as they’re useful for following up with you, then deleted. Job records are kept as long as business, tax and legal requirements call for.
Your choices
You can ask what information we hold about you from this website, and ask us to correct or delete it, by calling (208) 964-3081 or emailing carsofidaho@gmail.com. Some job records must be kept by law, but we’ll always tell you what we can do.
Children
This website isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
